Mayventure 2013

So...it's been a while...let's just ignore that fact. I've just got back from a 3 week trip to a few new (for me) places in the US and have narrowed down my favourite 300 or so pictures...

Step 1 - Chicago.

Oak Park - Frank Lloyd Wright houses. For anyone unfamiliar with FLW he is basically the greatest American architect and was a mad, egotistical genius. His very early career started in Chicago working for Louis Sullivan (credited as being the 'inventor' of the modern skyscraper) and then on his own. Also in Oak Park is the well-known 'Unity Temple' a church building in a different style to his domestic scale, early period work. Later on I visited his most famous work 'Fallingwater' in Pennsylvania.

  2. Hmm, I'm wondering if this is the case of "Yes, it's very artistic, and the architect is clearly gifted, but would you actually live in it"? :-) Good to hear you're still in one piece.
