Step 1 - Chicago.
Oak Park - Frank Lloyd Wright houses. For anyone unfamiliar with FLW he is basically the greatest American architect and was a mad, egotistical genius. His very early career started in Chicago working for Louis Sullivan (credited as being the 'inventor' of the modern skyscraper) and then on his own. Also in Oak Park is the well-known 'Unity Temple' a church building in a different style to his domestic scale, early period work. Later on I visited his most famous work 'Fallingwater' in Pennsylvania.

Beautiful pictures. The houses look amazing I specially like that vaulted ceiling room! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your trip :-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'm wondering if this is the case of "Yes, it's very artistic, and the architect is clearly gifted, but would you actually live in it"? :-) Good to hear you're still in one piece.
ReplyDeleteMr and Mrs Wright and their 6 kids found it ok...well until FLW ran off with his mistress!
DeleteTrust these fired up the architect in you. The C.P.Wight house at 3 Manna Gum Close compares well.
